Duties and Responsibilities: The Network Engineer will plan and guide the evolution of network related solutions for a large mission critical network in accordance with Federal, DoD and MDA strategic objectives. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the MDA Architecture and Engineering (A&E) Teams as well as expert insight to the Information Enterprise Architecture (IEA) Team and O&M crews regarding the MDA IT Network Infrastructure, Routing, Switching, and Data Center technologies. Will develop and document network enterprise systems solutions in accordance with approved engineering lifecycle products and review project designs delivered to the Engineering and Architecture Board (EAB) and Engineering Review Board (ERB). Will support development and documentation of MDA network IT standards and network architecture recommendations in collaboration with the Solutions A&E engineers and IEA team. Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Required Qualifications: Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and seven to nine years of related experience An active secret level security clearance is required. Must have DoD 8570 approved IA certification such as Security+ or CISSP. Must have network technical experience with a solid understanding of Cisco internal and external routing protocols. Local and long-haul data transmission mediums experience(RS-530, T1, OC-x, etc.) Experience w/multicast technologies. Must possess Cisco certification such as CCNP or CCIE. Must have demonstrated team building, leadership, & mentoring / instructing skills. Must have the ability to perform technical validation of network designs in accordance with industry best practices and DoD policies and guidelines. Must have knowledge of architecture frameworks (i.e, DoDAF, TOGAF, etc.). Must have experience in requirements development and management. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have Type I encryption devices, network timing system.
