Position Summary: Provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support for an Army Product Management Office (PMO). Participates as a team member to critically assess Original Equipment Manufacturer deliverables for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) of a dual-band (mid-wave infrared, long-wave infrared) sensor that will be integrated into sights on the Abrams tank and Bradley fighting vehicle. Primary focus will be evaluation of electronics and software, but should be familiar with Department of Defense acquisition, systems engineering, and integrated product team (IPT) processes. Duties and Responsibilities: -Collaborates with hardware and software designers/engineers and analysts to develop, coordinate, analyze and evaluate hardware, software, or systems modeling and simulation-based studies and to examine ramifications of output and design interfaces with various design systems. -Perform engineering analysis in preparation for Preliminary/Critical Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and System Verification Reviews. -Performs complex engineering assignments of an analysis, design or test nature requiring application of specific standard techniques and procedures. -Reviews and critiques proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, or details. Required Qualifications: -Requires bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field and 10 to 12 years of related experience. Master's degree or Ph. D. preferred. -Experience with electrical engineering requirements of defense systems and subsystems. -Experience with board level and system level functional and software requirements. -Experience with the design of circuit card assemblies for military environments (thermal and structural, design, test and qualification). -Experience with requirements decomposition and functional allocation. -Experience developing software and firmware for Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) based processing systems and/or real time operating systems (RTOS). -Experience with requirements review, verification and validation. Desired Qualifications: -Experience with Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) systems and subsystem requirements. -Experience with image processing algorithms, including local area contrast enhancement. -Experience with integration of systems on ground combat systems. -Experience with dual band infrared focal plane array and imaging systems. -Experience with fire control sensors. -Experience in an Engineering Manufacturing and Development (EMD) program resulting in stable designs in preparation for production. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
