Job Description

Work Description: The Digital Image Technicians work on a multiple shift schedule and must be able to work all shifts and overtime when required. The work environment requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, crouching or stretching; and lifting of moderately heavy materials. Work is primarily performed within a printing plant environment. Technicians are exposed to unpleasant odors from chemicals, solvents, and cleaning solutions within a noisy environment.   Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities Some daily tasks and responsibilities may include: - Determines scope of work assignment and requirements; reviews all phases of the job to determine the sequence of reproduction. - Operates and maintains the Kodak E150 Digimaster black and white printer(s), Kodak NexPress color printer with NexStation, Kodak NexGlosser, the Polar paper cutter, the Lawson drill, Rhino hand punch, GBC comb equipment, the GBC digicoil binder, the Duplo tower collator, the Morgana Digifold, Bindomatic 101 and RAF11 autopunch. - Performs job electronic file administration, manipulation, and set up. - Performs routine maintenance and conducts minor repairs on printers and bindery finishing machinery. - Performs quality control functions within discipline and maintains documentation and records of work projects. May provide technical guidance and direction to less experienced officers in digital operations.   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Thorough knowledge of Kodak color and black and white digital printers and software. - Considerable knowledge of document file assembly techniques, and procedures. - Ability to operate finishing equipment, such as the cutter, drill/punch, folder, collators, and binders. - Ability to work independently on the basis of work orders, specifications, established procedures and verbal or written instructions from the supervisor. - Ability to creatively address/solve technical and procedural issues and problems. - Ability to convey technical information through effective communication techniques both orally and in writing. - Ability to work under tight deadlines and follows specific detailed instructions. Minimum Qualifications   Experience: 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the printing trade that includes expert knowledge of the digital imaging/printing industry and operations.   Education: High school Diploma or GED equivalent.   Special Certifications: - Completion of a skills craft Apprenticeship (4 years) in Digital print. - Certification and/or training in Macintosh and PC Systems Administration.     SC2HP
