Job Description

Employees perform a range of standard and specialized digital printing. Employees also perform and operate a number of finishing equipment. Employee also responsible for electronic file administration, manipulation, and setup as well as maintaining equipment.   Employees perform a range of standard and specialized digital printing. Employees also perform and operate a number of finishing equipment.   Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities - Determines scope of work assignment and requirements; reviews all phases of the job to determine the sequence of reproduction. - Operates and maintains the Kodak E150 Digimaster black and white printer(s), Kodak NexPress color printer with NexStation, Kodak NexGlosser, the Polar paper cutter, the Lawson drill, Rhino hand punch, GBC comb equipment, the GBC digicoil binder, the Duplo tower collator, the Morgana Digifold, Bindomatic 101 and RAF11 autopunch. - Performs job electronic file administration, manipulation, and set up. - Performs routine maintenance and conducts minor repairs on printers and bindery finishing machinery. - Performs quality control functions within discipline and maintains documentation and records of work projects. May provide technical guidance and direction to less experienced officers in digital operations.   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Thorough knowledge of Kodak color and black and white digital printers and software. - Considerable knowledge of document file assembly techniques, and procedures. - Ability to operate finishing equipment, such as the cutter, drill/punch, folder, collators, and binders. - Ability to work independently on the basis of work orders, specifications, established procedures and verbal or written instructions from the supervisor. - Ability to creatively address/solve technical and procedural issues and problems. - Ability to convey technical information through effective communication techniques both orally and in writing. - Ability to work under tight deadlines and follows specific detailed instructions.   Tools used in this occupation: - Operates and maintains the Kodak Digimaster E150 - Operates and maintains the Digipath - Operates and maintains the Kodak nexpert software - Operates and maintains the Kodak 2100 &2500 - Operates and maintains the cutter. - Operates and maintains the drill. - Operates and maintains Coverbind equipment. - Operates and maintains the stitcher. - Operates and maintains the coil binder. - Operates and maintains the Duplo collator. - Performs electronic file administration and maintenance by transferring files, operating the Macintosh, using the Expert Label software package; and archiving files. - Operates and maintains the Fusion punch. - Operates and maintains the Folder.     Minimum Qualifications  Experience: At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in copying and binding of documents, book preservation or restoration.   Education: High school Diploma or GED equivalent.   Special Certifications: Completion of a skills craft Apprenticeship (4 years) in Digital print.     SC2HP
