Job Description

  CACI has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-directed, virtual management / SAN Systems Engineer with an emphasis on experience as it relates to storage technologies. This position is in Afghanistan. Our team will look to you for the design, configuration, implementation, operational management, and troubleshooting of VMware products including: ESXi 5.x, VMware vCenter, VMware SRM, vCenter Update Manager, and distributed virtual switches.      Some of your functions will include: Deploying shared storage to a vShpere 5.x environment including provisioning of iSCSI LUNS, FCoE, and NFS shares; managing Windows 2008 and  20012 based Active Directory systems in virtual environments, and Exchange 2010 and 2013 in virtual environments; creating, managing, and troubleshooting virtual machines; providing statistics on virtual system performance including hardware status and capacity management; and managing SAN replication and snapshots; identifying possible virtual system configuration issues and proactively performing maintenance to improve system performance; and managing system hardware including routine maintenance and RMA/replacement of failed hardware; and providing virtual networking guidelines and standards.   - You will have experience and a strong engineering background in Virtualization Design, Migration and Implementation.  - You will be directly responsible for the effective and efficient operation and interconnectivity of a Department of Defense Network and will execute the actions required to correct deficiencies or shortcomings and to improve system performance and efficiency. - Perform and oversee the management of Windows system administrator functions supporting various virtual servers using vCenter servers.  - Provide senior level knowledge and Tier 3 support to the customer and their components to include Tier 3 infrastructure, design, implementation, troubleshooting, and support that builds, configures, and administers several hundred servers in their area of operation.    - Provide remote support and/or travel to various OCONUS customer servers and sites as required.    Required:   - Be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) - Security + CE or higher - A minimum of one the following Microsoft Computing Environment certifications: - A+ - Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) - Windows Server 2008 - MCSA - Widows Server 2012 - Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Server Infrastructure - MCSE - Private Cloud - MCSE -“ Messaging - VMware Certified Associate (VCA) 5/6 or VMware Certified Professional 5 -“ Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV) and/or VMware Certified Design Expert 5 -“ Data Center Virtualization (VCDX5-DCV) - Must be willing/able to work OCONUS for minimum of one year - Recommend best-practice solutions for storage technologies - End-to-end monitoring of application performance and infrastructure availability - Provide technical leadership and cross-training to peers in areas of expertise - Act as a resource to team members, participates in team and professional meetings - Coaches and provides input as to the needs of Infrastructure staff - Provide 3rd line technical support as needed - 6+ years of experience in Systems Engineering work with demonstrated increased responsibility - Professional and responsible system administration of Microsoft Windows or Linux/Unix servers - Effective communications throughout all levels of operational command - Ability to document system process and architecture
