Position Summary: Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing and evaluating Integrated Project Team Development (IPTD) Program training events for the U. S. Naval Shipyard maintenance community. This position is customer-facing with a strong emphasis on building relationship s, influencing leadership development skills and organizing meetings for success with Project Teams responsible for repair, modernization, maintenance and deactivation of U. S. Navy aircraft carriers and submarines. The Training Instructor serves as the Lead IPTD Consultant to his or her assigned Project Teams and applies a project management approach from cradle-to-grave for supported training events. IPTD Program Mission The IPTD Program purposefully builds high-performing Project Teams for success. Position Responsibilities: -- Consult with customers to identify areas requiring preventive, refresher or specialized training for Project Team members. -- Develop training plans and meeting agendas with Project Team leadership using provided training materials and lessons learned. -- Actively facilitate IPTD training events (varied duration up to nine days). -- Coordinate training logistics. -- Develop and conduct training in areas of systems thinking, leadership skills and team skills development to build high-performing teams. -- Post-meeting report writing and training event closeout administrative processing. -- Partner with IPTD team members on updating IPTD training materials to ensure currency and relevance. -- Identify opportunities to enhance the IPTD Program to benefit the customer. -- Evaluate learning progress and effectiveness of IPTD training. -- May evaluate and recommend new or alternate training methods that can be used to develop desired specialized skills. -- May provide guidance and training to new/less experienced IPTD team members. -- May write concept papers to present to management about future opportunities. Education & Experience: -- Requires a Bachelor‘s degree or equivalent experience. -- Typically requires a minimum of two years of related experience in the development and delivery of training curriculum; or, four years of other demonstrated relevant experience, e.g., military service, Naval Shipyard service, professional employment as a consultant/facilitator/coach. -- Strong interpersonal/relationship building skills. -- Professional writing skills. -- Demonstrated ability to independently manage own schedule and practice effective time management. -- Corporate exposure and experience working within a complex industrial environment. -- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint). -- Must possess an active DOD Secret clearance. Desired Qualifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is strongly desired. Physical Demands: -- Position requires navigating an industrial environment on foot. This includes walking long distances into and across a public naval shipyard. -- Standing for long periods of time in a classroom environment is required. -- Ability to comfortably move and lift training supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
