POSITION SUMMARY: Candidate will be responsible for the continuous enhancement and engineering support to the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (DHS/CBP) Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC) by developing and maintaining web interfaces to systems used by CBP to perform radar analysis and radar surveillance. The candidate must be able to perform system design, execute test plans, develop installation plans, perform production support, and update user and system documentation. He/she will work as a member of a small specialized technical team to execute full life-cycle system development support in a rapid development environment, and will provide consultative services to DASA‘s (Domain Awareness Standards & Analysis) management staff. RESPONSIBILTIES: - Develop and maintain web interface to radar analysis and air surveillance systems. - Interface with systems from other Government agencies for data ingestion. - Provide consultative services to DASA‘s management staff. - Develop and execute software test plans. - Responsible for software configuration management. - Responsible for maintaining system documentation. - Performs requirements analysis and system design. - Perform system configuration and installation. - Perform required production support. - Develop and write system and user documentation. - Provide regular project status to program managers. - Travel may be required (Domestic & Foreign) EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - B.S. or B.A. degree in an appropriate Technical discipline, such as Physics, Math, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science - Experience in engineering/software development field (5 years) can be substituted for a B.S. degree, if an otherwise qualified applicant has at least two years of college credits working towards a degree in one of the above engineering or science disciplines SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS - Must be a US Citizen. - Must be able to attain US Government Secret Security Clearance. - Must be able to successfully pass a CBP Background Investigation. - At least two years of software engineering and development or related experience with specialization in the following areas: - Web development using tools such as -“ but not limited to -“ Java, PHP, Ruby on Rails, and HTML5; - Interfacing with Oracle 11g databases; - Software development experience to include object-oriented design and analysis; - Experience in C++ in a Linux environment preferred. - Strong understanding of user interfaces, cross-browser compatibility, and general web technology and standards. - Strong understanding of security principles and how they apply to web-based applications. - Strong problem solving skills. - Good communications skills, both oral and written. - Ability to work alone or as part of a team. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
