Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: DOJ/OCIO is seeking a trainer with CJIS experience with local, tribal or federal law enforcement experience to support the Tribal Access Program (TAP). This position requires a background in criminal justice, knowledge of FBI CJIS systems to include NCIC, NICS, III, N-DEx, NGI and state systems such as Nlets. This job requires travel around the country providing hands on training to tribes. This is not a full-time position as we deploy on-site training to only 1 to 2 tribes per month over a 3-4 day period.  Summary of Responsibilities: - Responsible for providing training to criminal and civil agencies on a variety of criminal and civil subjects that include how to interpret and adhere to CJIS Security Policy, how to enter/modify/clear person and property files in NCIC, how to register sex offenders, and how to read criminal histories and IdHS reports. - Develop training materials and curriculum for criminal and civil agencies. - Provides guidance and supports the CSA activities the government has to perform for the Tribes. - Provide onsite training, complete an assessment, help improve communications at the tribal site and assist with making tribal decisions - Ensure there is cross functional communication as necessary between criminal and civil agencies and that necessary information exchange agreements are in place between them. - Draft after action reports and presentations that clearly outline programmatic and or technical issues and actions to resolve. Requirements: - 5-7 years of training experience - 4-6 years of CJIS Security Policy experience working with local, tribal and/or federal agencies - Experience developing presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint and Experience providing classroom style training - Thorough understanding of the CJIS Security Policy and experience ensuring that agency use of CJIS Systems is in compliance - Must have CJIS and NCIC experience; (CSA) work experience or experience in the criminal justice/law enforcement field - Ability to travel - Experience providing top notch customer service and ability to communicate are required - Must be able to obtain DOJ MBI clearance.
