POSITION SUMMARY: Systems Engineer with a secret clearance Provide technical and engineering support for the USTRANSCOM Defense Personal Property System (DPS). Ability to work both independently and with a team to solve problems. Experience with working multiple releases in an Agile environment and supporting development personnel on a daily basis. Develops technical documentation, system architecture and system design documentation. Interacts with government engineering counterparts regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts. Ultimately involved with the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated the Systems Engineering area of responsibility. RESPONSIBILITIES: Knowledge of Red Hat Linux, VMware, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008/2012, Apache, Java, Oracle and the ability to support Agile development tools and quickly learn new technologies. Knowledge of COTS products such as Software AG webMethods, Siebel, Weblogic, Atlassian products, (JIRA, Confluence), a plus. Responsible for driving recommendations through to implementation. Installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in both development and production environments. Ability to research and recommend emerging technologies and apply new capabilities to environments. Troubleshoots and resolves basic level system hardware, software and network issues and server deployment support. Participates in reviewing performance logs and monitors system performance. Involved with Security STIG support and remediation. Deploys, configures and tests software packages. Communicates effectively with a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent; 5 to 7 years of related experience. CompTIA Security+ or DoD IAT Level II equivalent required PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
