POSITION SUMMARY: Full time, on-site professional with an education and in English, Journalism, or Communications to provide strategic communications writing and editing services to a Federal Government client. The actual location will be on-site daily at a federal agency, and the assignment will require a low level clearance (NACI, Public Trust) to work on government property. Supports the drafting and editing of materials for communicating high profile initiatives to the agency's executive leadership. The candidate will edit program documents for internal and external use utilizing department editing GPO standards and styles. RESPONSIBILTIES: The candidate will edit complex documents and assist in the creation of messaging documents such as executive presentations and web content. The primary focus will be to edit government material for correspondence that include technical narratives, policies, procedures, webinars, and computer based applications. Edits draft documents of a technical nature, ensuring technical accuracy, proper grammar, syntax, punctuation, spelling, proper templates, conciseness, and understandability the United States Government Printing Office (GPO) Style Manual. The candidate must, - Communicate effectively orally and in writing and analyze the needs of the target audience and, - Deliver documents within a short turnaround timeframe in a fast paced environment; along with producing quality work products. This role is intellectually challenging and rewarding for someone who has the interest in government policy, attention to detail, the ability to absorb new information quickly, and works well with others. Those interested should be able to produce written material in accordance with GPO Style, and to efficiently edit for style and content.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in English and five years of experience writing and editing technical reports and technical documentation using word processing systems advanced proficiency using Microsoft (Word), desktop publishing (Publisher), presentation systems (PowerPoint), Adobe systems, and spreadsheet systems (Excel) and SharePoint. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, and/or Political Science is acceptable. Desired experience: Professional editor or experience teaching English, at an undergraduate or graduate level or developing and editing highly€visible written communications collateral for government officials in a fast-paced environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
