Job Description

Description: Come and be a part of cutting-edge healthcare technology development in support of the Federal government.  The ideal candidate for this position has experience in software development projects.  The candidate must have a solid understanding of SDLC and Agile development environments.  This position will interface will multiple teams.  The candidate should have strong communication skills with a keen attention to detail.  As part of a multi-disciplined development team, the candidate should take the initiative to attack new challenges and learn new skills independently.  This person must be well organized and flexible.  The candidate will assist in writing and/or editing technical documents, including business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements.   Duties and Responsibilities: - Liaise with IT and Business users and management in order to develop documentation standards, procedures ,and guidelines - Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations - Plan, design, research, write, and edit a range of documents, including user guides and manuals, technical specifications, training materials, support documentation and proposals - Research and gather technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables - Consult relevant information sources, including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information, and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables - Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation standards, and provide training as required - Ensure currency and accuracy of all documentation - Research, evaluate, and recommend new documentation tools and methods in support of documentation improvement efforts - Develop training tools and documentation; oversees implementation of same - Interact with management and users to understand and support business objectives - Assist and support other areas of IT and the business with documentation needs - Prepare management status reporting - Read manuals, periodicals, and technical reports in order to stay current with the industry and increase technical knowledge - Follow Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices and procedures EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and two to four years of related (technical writing and copy editing) experience.     Required Qualifications: - Hands-on technical writing and editing experience, with specific experience in documenting information technology software and systems - Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles - Able to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required - Able to absorb and retain information quickly, specifically complex technical information - Able to analyze target audience and to present ideas in user-friendly language - Experience in desktop publishing - Experience working with online repositories - Proficient in MS Office suite of products - Industry knowledge and experience, including current industry trends and challenges - Understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies, Agile in particular - Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail - Good communication skills (written and oral) - Ability to work in a time critical environment and prioritize work load effectively - Ability to work as a team player with others and be forward thinking - Bachelor's degree in English, Communication, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field   Desired Qualifications: - Knowledge of business intelligence reporting and data quality - Experience working on a government contract - Experience working with Microsoft (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint , SharePoint, and Visio) - Knowledge of IT practices and lifecycles (i.e. Agile, Spiral, and Waterfall Models) - Knowledge of configuration and release management procedures (CRs, Defects, and Enhancements) - Knowledge of the Health Care industry - Knowledge of Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)
