Project Overview You will perform advanced technical level designs, as well as, implement and maintain complex financial databases in a client/server environment. Further, you will participate in the design of databases and interact with users to develop financial requirements to build database specifications. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of database macros and formulas; will monitor client activities to ensure that standard procedures/protocols are followed; will ensure the integration of systems through client/server database design. Responsibilities - Review, analyze, and modify financial systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support U.S. Department of Transportation client/server software application - Maintains accurate and up-to-date knowledge of financial database information and requirements for maximizing client/server database potential - Collaboratively work with the client to develop specifications - Provide advanced technical level proficiency at relational database concepts, and client-server concepts - Participate in database design and system analysis, systems software internals and data manipulation languages - Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in the use of database management systems in support of a number of client systems - Conduct tests before final implementation and on-going maintenance of client/server databases with respect to access methods and time, device allocation, validation checks, file organization, indexing methods, protection and security, documentation, guidelines, and statistical method - Provide assistance to various clients as required for database design, implementation, and troubleshooting - Maintain standards/protocols and documentation - Establish procedures for operation of the database and database management systems - Collect data elements and prepares database specifications - Development of the on-going updates of job aids and user guides - Provide advice and guidance to less experienced staff EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline - A minimum of two to four years of relevant work experience - Ability to customize complex Excel spreadsheet designs - A high proficiency in developing Microsoft Excel to build financial tools/ applications using complex macros, formulas, protections, and data validations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
