Job Description

Position Summary: The DPS team is seeking a highly motivated Oracle Database Administrator to provide technical support of production database environments/applications, including software installation, upgrades, patches, problem diagnosis, performance monitoring, database maintenance, process automation, evaluation, and tuning recommendations.  The successful candidate will be knowledgeable and experienced in Oracle 11g/12c databases running RAC on a Solaris OS.  This individual must be a self-starter who is able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment. Responsibilities: - Database monitoring - Performing backups and recoveries - Troubleshooting and performance tuning - Provide support to Oracle Developers - Provide infrastructure support - Define and assess requirements - Capacity planning, design, installation, configuration, and migration of databases - Database patching - Document database policies - Set and enforce security standards - Provide application support and code deployment - Other Duties as assigned EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and seven to nine years of related experience.   Required Skills: - Experience running and supporting large databases under high transaction rates - 3-5 years of experience as a DBA supporting Oracle 11g/12c RAC databases  in a Unix and Linux environment - Knowledge of Oracle OEM, ASM, Data Pump, Partitioning, Materialized views. - Proficiency in setting up backup and recovery strategies using RMAN. - Participate in the creation of new policies, procedures, projects and processes - Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues - Solid experience in database patching, upgrades, data loading, security, performance monitoring and tuning. - Working experience of Unix and Linux operating systems - Clear understanding of Database Architecture, Operating Systems, Client/Server Architecture, Middleware and Hardware (Servers, SAN, Network) - Ability to collaborate effectively with other operational support teams and vendors to support the service. Team focus and customer oriented - Excellent time management and organizational skills - Demonstrate ownership and good skills on problem management and problem solving.  Desired Skills:  - Experience in DoD systems. - Experience in Agile Development - security+ Certification
