The primary work location for this position in Okinawa Japan. This is not a remote position.
The 1st Marine Air Wing (MAW) Information Management Office (IMO), located in Okinawa, Japan, uses Microsoft SharePoint 2013 to create and manage web applications and services to share and collaborate information between units. These information services are provided on unclassified and classified networks. Additionally, the IMO supports the publicly accessible "marines.mil" internet website. The 1st MAW IMO also assumes primary responsibility for SharePoint server administration and maintenance during exercises or deployments when the hosting system is in a tactical environment.
This involves travel varying from a couple of days to up to three weeks in the following locations:
During exercises, the IMO is responsible for creating a Battle Command Display (BCD) dashboard on SharePoint to provide information in a single location that enables effective information management, shared battle space awareness, and the ability for informed decision-making/assessment processes. Day-to-day tasks in the IMO include supporting 1st MAW groups and squadrons using SharePoint in their information collaboration needs. These tasks can range in difficulty from using basic out-of-the-box web parts, to applying basic UI tweaks using jQuery and JSLink, to coding more advanced custom "SharePoint-hosted" applications in Visual Studio. 1st MAW currently uses SharePoint 2013 but there are plans to upgrade to SharePoint 2016 or 2019 in the future.
Providing input and guidance to Information Management Officer (IMO) and Staff regarding emerging technologies.
Advising and assisting in the administration of web servers including, but not limited to SharePoint, Apache, Internet Information Services (IIS), and other Marine Corps approved systems.
Assisting with technical guidance on maintaining the document management SOP for web portals.
Recommending improvements and updates to local processes and procedures for web content and information management and administration in accordance with industry best practices.
Maintaining and improving the Battle Command Display on local web portals and other operational environments in accordance with unit requirements.
Developing functionality that will enable web applications to query Marine Corps enterprise systems enterprise data sources in order to develop custom reports for data analysis.
Supporting any transition or integration with SharePoint and other web applications in accordance with unit requirements.
Perform administration and maintenance of the TSOA web applications such as the BCD, Chat Management System (CMS), and Battle Rhythm Visualization Tool (BRVT), and additional as required.
Execute the transition of SP and other web services to and from the garrison and tactical environments in accordance with unit requirements.
Incorporating records management policies into underlying web platforms, processes and procedures.
Automating document and process workflows with headquarters staff and subordinate commands.
Perform maintenance on the low-bandwidth environment web applications in accordance with unit requirements.
Perform guidance and maintain significant enhancement for the marines.mil site.
Perform administration and maintenance of role-based user access and permissions to web applications.
Develop, administer, and maintain command custom web applications.
6 years experience in a web application development environment.
Proficiency in MS SharePoint 2013 and 2016.
SQL Server 2012, 2014, and 2016 administration and query knowledge.
Proficiency in programming in the following computer languages:
Proficiency in using the following frameworks/libraries:
.NET, ASP.NET, jQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap
Familiarity with web development and data transfer techniques to create asynchronous web applications such as AJAX and JSON.
Experience troubleshooting network and routing relating problems.
Proficiency in IIS 8.0 or newer.
Proficiency in DOD public key infrastructure (PKI).
Proficiency in MS Windows Servers 2012, 2016, and 2019.
Familiarity with the government-of-the-shelf (GOTS) Tactical Service-Oriented Architecture (TSOA).
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerShell.
Familiarity with GeoServer and OpenLayers.
Familiarity with Apache TomCat Server configuration.
Meet Information Assurance workforce requirements of IAT level II or above in accordance with DOD Directive 8140.
Proficiency in VMWare capabilities.
Experience in conducting training in basics of IM one-on-one and in small to large groups.
Having knowledge in the SharePoint Framework (SPFx) would be a plus.
