CACI is looking for a Reliability Engineer to work in our LGS Innovations division, on our photonics team!  Our laser communications technology is helping NASA provide high-definition video from the International Space Station, and to explore asteroids 250 million miles away.  Our other optical technology can also help scientists discover biohazards; support intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions; and protect soldiers from explosive devices.  Do you have a passion for innovation?  Apply now and join the team!

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Lead the design, development, execution, and optimization of test procedures that will establish the reliability of complex and unique photonic systems in a variety of challenging environments, including space.

  • Apply the concepts of physics of failure and accelerated test methods to evaluate reliability of photonic/optical devices at the system, sub-system, and component level.

  • Apply reliability methods and metrics to assess and predict reliability risk throughout the product development cycle.

  • Serve as the primary technical customer interface for reliability-related issues.

  • Support proposals and other new business development efforts by creating qualification plans, describing and justifying them in technical write-ups, orally presenting them to customers, and accurately estimating their cost.

  • Work with suppliers to improve quality, cost and flow of supplied materials throughout the entire supply chain. Investigate alternate component technologies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability.

  • Provide ongoing technical leadership for the identification of opportunities to increase the reliability and of LGS’s products.

  • Conduct and/or coordinate off-site testing as needed at specialized test facilities, including radiation, shock and vibration, and pyroshock.

  • Lead the development and management of the FMEA. Coordinate with the component development teams to ensure component DFMEAs are complete, accurate and updated

  • Use failure analysis, FRACAS, or other types of root cause analysis, report to internal and external customers as required.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, plus 5 years of related work experience.

  • Familiarity with laser technology and optical fiber components.

  • Working knowledge of Weibull reports, design review and control; prediction, estimation, and reliability distribution methodology; failure mode effects and analysis; and the analysis of reliability testing and field failures.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Masters degree or PhD in an engineering discipline
