Job Description

Technical Manager, Embedded Vulnerability Research and Development-- We are looking for a talented Technical Manager to contribute to our ICR (Internet & Cybersecurity Research) Department, within our National Security & Innovative Solutions Division (NSIS).

What You’ll Get to Do:

Under minimal direction, you'll manage and coordinate a team of cross-functional activities related to advanced systems and technology programs for our government customers. Including:

  • Team Leadership: Provides hands-on leadership and mentoring to a small but growing team of reverse engineers and vulnerability researchers. In this role, you’ll be expected to help the team improve their skills and capabilities working with various embedded platforms, including: SCADA/ICS, 3G,4G,5G Mobile Network platforms, Optical transport platforms.

  • Reverse Engineering: Hands-on reverse engineering of binary images, including developing tactics and techniques for extracting binary images from embedded platforms.

  • Vulnerability Research: Hands-on vulnerability research working with your team to perform white-box and black-box testing an analysis of embedded platforms. Apply code inspection techniques to identify vulnerabilities like dead stores, logic errors, memory errors and other security vulnerabilities.

  • Cybersecurity: Interact with customers and subject matter experts to understand and identify current and future Cybersecurity needs and challenges.

  • Impact Cyber Research & Development: Develop, propose and win programs that will contribute to the success of our nation’s Cybersecurity. This opportunity directly supports the National Security & Innovative Solutions (NSIS) sector at CACI.

  • Influence and Manage: Help lead and coordinate a team of engineers in cross-functional activities related to Cybersecurity and advanced network systems and technologies.


More About the Role:

  • Manage and lead R&D government contracts to include employee selection, oversight of technical, contractual, and programmatic functions of the contract, and production.

  • Conceptualize and guide IR&D programs with high impact.

  • Coordinate project requirements definitions according to the customer needs, plan and schedule project commitments, coordinate staff member assignments, and develop and manage to program budgets.

  • Lead project team meetings and facilitate tracking/completion of action items.

  • Provide hands-on mentoring for reverse engineering, vulnerability research, and cybersecurity. Lead by example, the usage of various tools, including: binwalk, dd, IdaPro, Ghidra, and many others.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports on all projects of responsibility.

  • Provide leadership in hiring, and collaborate with Recruiting Manager to seek out new avenues for recruiting technical staff.

  • May collaborate with University relations Recruiting Manager  on establishing relationships with universities, external laboratories, and other potential collaboration partners to recruit and maintain a high performance work team.

  • Collaborate with a technical team to develop and provide detailed briefings and documentation for customers on project status, communication concepts, new business ideas, wireless systems and protocols, next generation communication & sensing systems, and unique applications and user interfaces.

  • Recommend and initiate process improvements and overall development practices.

  • Drive towards successful fulfillment, and extension, of the department strategic initiatives.

  • Participate in Bids & Proposals and New Business Development efforts.

  • Provide supervision and development to a team of professionals.  Lead & support all departmental management activities, action items, mentoring and people support, force management, etc.


You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Current and Active Top-Secret government security clearance, AND ability to obtain additional clearance(s) as needed at the level to perform the job. High preference to an Active TS/SCI w/Poly clearance.

  • Experience leading and / or contributing to highly multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to create highly effective systems through knowledge of specific Customer operational needs, and one-on-one interaction with end-users of the system.

  • Experience with systems requirements definition, partitioning and flow down, and system tradeoffs.

  • Demonstrated focus on Customer support and relationship building.

  • Experience with managing the development of advanced communication systems, the analysis of secure platforms, and the execution of network reconnaissance activities.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline.

  • Preferred Master’s Degree.

  • Preferably a minimum of 6-8 years of related work experience.
