More About the Role:

CACI’s Business and Information Technology Solutions (BITS) Sector is seeking a Technical Writer (Engineer) who will provide engineering and technical writing support for a team of 20+.  As a Technical Writer (Engineer), you will also identify issues and solutions for full system life cycle from concept to disposal for both hardware and software, including requirements elicitation, systems integration, verification and validation, testing, and risk analysis and supportability.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Working with other engineers to document engineering approaches

  • Developing installation plans with senior customers

  • Documenting new solutions for transition to operations and maintenance (O&M)

  • Documenting functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation, and interface definition to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

  • Ensuring engineering documents are compliant with industry standards and best practices

  • Developing and continuously enhancing technical documentation standards

  • Assisting in establishing standards for information systems procedures

  • Developing and maintaining hardware and software documentation for upgrades and new systems

  • Producing implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities

  • Understanding basic concepts and writing technical copy for various types of documents for a program and/or project of similar complexity

  • Coordinating the layout and design of documents

  • Applying concepts for technical writing based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other available sources

  • Acting as project leader for projects with complex or voluminous documentation and may provide or coordinate special documentation services, as required

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field

  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in either IT engineering or relevant industry knowledge

  • Experience preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation

  • Experience writing and editing technical documentation for hardware and software, including installation, configuration, and “how-to” documentation

  • Experience multi-tasking and juggling competing priorities

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Candidate must have one of the following:

  • 12 Years of job-related experience and High School/GED diploma

  • 10 Years of job-related experience and Associates degree

  • 8 Years of job-related experience and Bachelor’s degree

  • 6 Years of job-related experience and Master’s degree

  • 4 Years of job-related experience and Doctorate

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Working knowledge of at least three (3) of the following infrastructure principles:

    • Amazon Web Services (AWS)

    • Microsoft Azure

    • High availability

    • Data backup and recovery

  • Ability to understand all phases of the systems development and project management life cycle

  • Familiarity in the following disciplines:

    • AWS

    • Commercial Cloud Services (C2S)

    • Microsoft Windows and Linux OSs

    • Networking (TCP/IP, switching and routing, VLANs, and multi-tier networks)

    • Application integration (design and integration of multiple COTS products)

  • Virtualization systems and automatic provisioning of components

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals

Work Hours:

  • Core hours 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
