Job Description

What You’ll Get to Do:
CACI has an immediate opening for a Naval Architect or Civil Engineer with Structural background to support engineering and planning efforts for Submarine Rescue and Mobility platforms at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS) in Kittery, Maine. The selected candidates will:

  • Develop analyses based on needs of the PNS Deep Submergence Systems Office, including modernization plans/change recommendations
  • evaluation of components and materials and systems to ensure proper system integration, compatibility and stability
  • Some travel will be required. 
  • Work will be in support of US Navy Submarines, Submersibles or Deep Submergence projects.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Naval Architecture or Structural Engineering Degree (Civil Eng) from an ABET Accredited College or University.
  • 10 years experience working as a NAVARCH and/or Structural Engineer including:
  • Experience using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in the design process
  • Experience Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in the design process
  • Experience performing vehicle weight & stability analysis.
  • Configuration management and document control
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work in a time-sensitive operational environment
  • Ability to achieve excellence working individually or as part of a team
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance

Nice to have:

  • Professional Engineering License
  • Prior experience specifically with US Navy Deep Submergence Assets and Support Systems.
  • Familiarity with Level 1, SUBSAFE or Scope of Certification requirements (P9290/MAN-10)
  • Familiarity with Military Specifications, ANSI and ASME standards
  • Related submarine / submersible experience with design, maintenance, operations, repair and/or testing
  • Experience with MS Office suite of products
