What You’ll Get to Do:
Own the FPGA and PLD design engineering function in the Photonic Solutions Business Unit whose typical product includes complex photonic, opto-electronic, electrical, and mechanical subsystems.
In addition to a management role, CACI expects the candidate to participate as an individual contributor:
Review requirements and derive additional requirement to create a hardware architecture.
Design, simulate, place and route, and build prototypes.
Support debugging, DVT, and integration in the lab.
The primary responsibility of the position is ownership of the FPGA and PLD engineering function and contribution to new business development and program technical management.
Own the FPGA and PLD engineering function by:
Defining and executing best practices for electrical engineering with the goal of establishing mature process that enable quality solutions and products and allow AS9100 certification. Recommend and implement process improvements, where needed. Establish and maintain an infrastructure that supports the circuit board design process.
Providing resource management to ensure support of contract work and defining new IR&D programs to leverage the team’s skills.
Providing leadership in hiring and collaborating with the Recruiting Manager to seek out new avenues for recruiting technical staff.
Ensuring team training and career growth by providing training plans and mentoring.
Conducting and documenting performance and salary reviews using the defined tools in compliance with corporate requirements.
Lead the capture of new business by:
Interacting with potential customers in defining cost, schedule, technical, and programmatic needs.
Working with the proposal team in developing cost, schedule, and technical proposals.
Contribute to program technical management by:
Technically leading government contracts to include employee staffing, oversight of technical development, contractual oversight, and programmatic functions.
Coordinating with program managers a development approach and cost and schedule commitments that align with customer requirements.
Managing staff member assignments within program budgets.
Leading project team meetings and facilitate tracking/completion of action items.
Managing technical issues identified by team members and customers, defining a resolution plan and managing the team to provide solutions in a timely manner.
Travel to other LGS Locations or Customer Sites as necessary.
If required, obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level to perform the position.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Experience leading or making strong technical contributions to highly multidisciplinary projects.
Experience in the design and development of DSP, control loops, and communications protocols targeting complex FPGA using VHDL and third-party IP.
Demonstrated success with internal and external customer oral and written communications.
Demonstrated commitment to customer mission and program success.
Proficient use of computer-aided design and analysis software, with Xilinx Vivado strongly preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience in the design of FPGA for high-power optical fiber amplifiers, transmitters, and receivers.
Experience in the design of hardware to military and space design standards and manufacturing processes.
Experience with circuit board design concepts and implementation.
Master’s degree preferred.
