Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, designs and conducts tests of designs and architectures. Requires basic familiarity with information network elements such as routers and firewalls. Ability to apply technical knowledge to information security designs.   RESPONSIBILTIES: Participates in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards related to information security, privacy and incident response. Assists with security research, analysis, and design for assigned client computing systems and the network infrastructure. Provides technical engineering services for the support of integrated security systems and solutions. Uses tools and processes to monitor information systems for security-related events. Helps plan configuration changes for major security infrastructure platforms. Troubleshoots and resolves basic technical issues related with close supervision. Helps maintain a library of security audit tools, and corresponding processes that can be used for system security testing, internal audits, incident response, and diagnosis of security-related system issues. Implements formal security programs and policies throughout the organization and monitors compliance to these policies and programs. May contribute general consulting (risk analysis) and project support in the area of information security to IT infrastructure. Monitors trends in information technology and security that could have an impact on the security of the organization‘s products, processes, infrastructure, or customers.   Minimum/General Experience: Three years experience with security programs, policy development, security life cycle management, and security risk assessment. Experienced in implementing Intrusion Detection Systems, Public Key Infrastructure, and preparing security related documentation for all phases of Security Life Cycle Management.   Functional Responsibility: Provide technical analysis, make recommendations, and implement approaches to solving security problems associated with network access controls, user authentication, and authorization.       EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or electrical  engineering, or industry equivalent experience required and two to four years of related experience.     Ability to obtain DHS EOD suitability or Current DHS EOD preferred.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face.   DHSHP
