POSITION SUMMARY: Candidate will perform a wide variety of tasks associated with local and wide area networks supporting the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (DHS/CBP) Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC) and Domain Awareness Standards and Analysis (DASA). He/she will work as a member of a small, specialized technical team to design, implement, monitor and maintain IP networks. The candidate will provide consultative services to DASA‘s management staff. RESPONSIBILTIES: - Maintain system documentation. - Design and implemented local area and wide area networks. - Monitor networks for abnormalities and performance and provide remedies. - Respond to network intrusions. - Propose potential improvements. - Perform additional related tasks as assigned by DASA and AMOC management. - Provide regular project status to program managers. - Travel, domestic and foreign will be required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - B.S. or B.A. degree in an appropriate Technical discipline, such as Physics, Math, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science - Experience in engineering/software development field (5 years) can be substituted for a B.S. degree, if an otherwise qualified applicant has at least two years of college credits working towards a degree in one of the above engineering or science disciplines SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS: - Must be a US Citizen. - Must be able to attain US Government Secret Security Clearance. - Must be able to successfully pass a CBP Background Investigation. - Must have a Cisco CCNA or equivalent. - Strong knowledge of DNS, IP configuration, and network design and implementation. - Experience in network tools such as WireShark and Time Domain Reflectometer. - Experience in monitoring network performance and troubleshooting irregularities. - Experience in responding to network intrusions. - Experience in installing, configuring, monitoring and maintaining firewalls. - Good communications skills, both oral and written. - Ability to work alone or as part of a team. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
