Responsible for integration of various Mission Systems equipment, combat systems, and computer programs to help the Navy meet current and future operational requirements. Duties may include analyzing equipment to establish operating data, conducting experimental tests and evaluating results as well as selecting components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
Candidate will support the US Navy Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering (SEA 05V) CVN Class Shipbuilding and Refueling Carrier Overhaul (RCOH) Programs on-site at the Washington Navy Yard, Washington, D.C. providing engineering services and technical support.
Candidate must have the ability to work in an industrial environment and be physically capable to climb ladders to move between CVN Class ship’s compartments and participate in at-sea ship trials
More About the Role:
Must have a thorough understanding of ship’s Mission Systems to include; Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS), Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG), and Dual Band Radar (DBR), NATO Sea Sparrow launchers, 20mm Phalanx CIWS mounts.
Provide CVN existing and future C5I (Combat Systems, Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence) systems engineering and evaluation of systems performance, and recommendations on integration
Participate in broad array of system concept & design efforts, including engineering reviews of drawings, interfaces, and functional specifications against system requirements.
Provide timely review of ship planning documents (SPD), interface control documents (ICD), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Contract Data Requirements List (CRDLs), and other relevant products.
Develop, review, and implement CVN mission systems' test procedures.
Work with the GFE Manager to Identify, coordinate and manage scheduled delivery and risk mitigation for Mission Systems Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) / Government Furnished Information (GFI) as identified.
Perform ship checks during construction or RCOH to determine and confirm as built conditions in order to support the drafting of statements of work for work item specification development.
Provide technical assessments and evaluations of Mission Systems in accordance with the ship specification and advise on equipment and system problems that arise during construction, testing and trials.
Review design drawings and ship specifications. Develop tasking letters.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Engineering Field
More than 5 years of experience with the U.S. Navy or DoD Acquisition Programs.
Experience with MS Office Suite.
Active DoD Secret Clearance
