Job Description

The Requirements Planner works closely with multiple teams to ensure thorough planning and efficient execution of each ServiceNow capability is offered as expected. The Planner is embedded in the engineering division that is currently building out ServiceNow for a large Government Customer. The Planner leads the requirements gathering process for offerings within current and future sprints, and works with key stakeholders and client Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand and clarify business issues, functionality used in legacy tools/processes, and what functions might fit into currently released ServiceNow modules versus what needs to be developed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates Government and service owner functional requirements and develop the technical requirements for the ServiceNow engineering team
  • Brings general knowledge of Requirements Management as it relates to requirements analysis and design, traceability methods, and processes 
  • Conducts requirements reviews with SMEs and relevant stakeholders 
  • Analyzes and documents requirements to convey the information to the Engineering Team he/she is embedded within, in the form of Agile user stories and epics 
  • Prepares correspondence, plans, and reports  
  • Guides the development of end-to-end business processes within a sister strategy division on the Program by providing technical expertise and working with the ServiceNow engineering team 
  • Helps develop and document future stories and projects by understanding and addressing customer needs and expectations (long and short-term projects)
  • Gathers and documents lessons learned
  • Able to break out complex projects into manageable Agile Stories and Epics that meet customer expectations, and have the technical requirements detailed enough to allow the ServiceNow engineering team and Quality Assurance testers to complete the story/epic.
  • Able to set attainable goals and objectives that work with both the customer and the ServiceNow engineering team. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • An Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph 
  • Eight (8) years of relevant ITIL or IT Service Management (ITSM) experience, to include at least five (5) years in requirements development for programs of similar engineering scope 
  • Ability to interact comfortably with Government stakeholders and engineers on a day-to-day basis 
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, both at the functional and technical levels, depending on the audience
  • Ability to be flexible and a strong team-player 
  • Some working experience level of the ITIL framework, which ServiceNow is built upon 
  • Must be technical enough to understand platform needs from engineers and build requirements that can easily transition into development without significant input  

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with tools such as JIRA and Confluence 
  • Experience with Agile Scrum Teams 
  • Experience with ServiceNow Agile Module 
  • ITIL version 4 Foundations, or higher, Certifications
