Job Description

Team CACI has an exciting and challenging opportunity available for a Network Operations and Maintenance Lead supporting a DHS customer’s wide-area (WAN), local-area (LAN) and campus-area (CAN) networks across multiple security domains. The troubleshooting of application issues requires Network support to analyze incidents and problems from the network perspective. Root Cause Analysis, recommendations, and implementation of improvements shall be provided for assigned tickets generated by the USCIS ticketing system and originating from the NOC and other authorized entities. Network Subject Matter Expertise in support of all aspects of the USCIS Network Infrastructure is required. Network Infrastructure includes routers, switches, Load Balancers, Riverbeds Firewalls, Wireless Access Points, ISE and Wireless concentrators and IDS/IPS devices. They will receive escalated actions from the NOC on which they must provide resolution as well as forward actions to vendors where required in accordance with operating procedures. Provide coverage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Normal business hours are 7 am to 8 pm EST. On call support after normal business hours is acceptable.

What You’ll Get to Do:

Ensure the overall health and strong security posture of complex network architectures. The Network Operations and Maintenance Lead will be actively involved with all phases of security design, implementation, proactive monitoring, troubleshooting and analysis of firewalls, IDSs, VPNs, security controls and policies. Develops system specifications, architecture designs, integration and test plans, and all relevant documentation. Develops security assessment and mitigation strategies. Maintain compliance with DOD Information Assurance requirements as well as ensuring service performance indicators are met or exceeded.

More About the Role:

  • Resolve issues related to DHS OneNet, changes to the network, migration initiatives, and related issues identified by USCIS OIT Management, the Network Operations Center, the Security Operations Center, or the Enterprise Operations Center.

  • Work with the network performance team and provide recommendations on changes required in the environment, on the network, or to any device/service within the infrastructure; and upon government approval, execute the change.

  • Support and maintenance of the network infrastructure tools to ensure correct operation within the USCIS network infrastructure as directed by USCIS OIT Management.

  • Review and consult on network designs provided by the USCIS Network Engineering and Architecture, other USCIS contractors or stakeholders.

  • Review and provide recommendations to government managers for USCIS, DHS and

  • OneNet Change requests that are reviewed at the Change Request Boards (CRB).

  • Work with vendor’s technical support personnel to perform technical analysis, troubleshooting to resolution, provide reports, and user training - document and report all findings to USCIS OIT.

  • Create an analysis of tools currently in use and provide the government with recommendations on cost savings.

  • Provide network assistance and expert advice in the resolution of incidents elevated to the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). The CIRT is responsible to contact and triage the appropriate experts to collectively solve technical issues across the USCIS infrastructure and its applications. Once contacted by the CIRT, the contractor will remain engaged until the issue is declared resolved or the contractor is released by the CIRT.

  • Monitor the assigned queue(s) for incidents, provide expert analysis to resolve problems, record the resolution into the USCIS ticketing system, de-brief on troubleshooting outcomes and provide lessons learned via after-action reports (AAR’s), incident analysis reports (IAR’s), or knowledge base (KB) articles.

  • Provide support for Cloud routers and other network equipment in Equinix, AWS and Azure to include but not limited to CSR, ASR, Security groups, VPCs, and VPGs.

  • Assist Engineering and Architecture team in the rollout of new products and services on the network as needed to include, but not limited to, IP address assignment, VLAN assessments, switching/routing connectivity and troubleshooting as necessary.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship required

  • An active Entrance on Duty (EOD) is required to begin employment and must be maintained as a requirement of continued employment.

  • Experience on COTS tools including but not limited to Puppet, Solar Winds, New Relic APM/Synthetics/Insight, Riverbed (Steelheads, SteelCentral, Profiler, Mobile, NetCollector, AppInternals) Cisco Prime, SCOM, Oracle OEM, ARX, Cisco UCS, Cisco ISE, InfoBlox, Ansible, Git/Github/Jenkins and Service Now.

  • Experience in creating reports using security and network appliances with primary administration tools (i.e. Cisco CSM, Splunk, Prime, Solar Winds)

  • Experience and familiarity with IT management products and services

  • Experience with networking, infrastructure, server, application and development technologies

  • Domain expertise with IT operations, security or compliance is desirable

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Relevant DHS focused experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, with preference in the computer related field, or equivalent combination of education/ 10 to 15 years of experience

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in Routing and Switching or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA).

  • Other certifications are a plus
